If I may recommend something, I recommend Tyrian 2000. It's a scrolling screen shooter game... my brother says it's gone freeware lately. The demo version of this game kept my brother entertained from age 7 to 9, pretty much. It's got nice music, if techno-ish midi is your scene

Awesome list and info for the games! I thought I might also mention that the original Sim City has been rewritten and released as freeware under the name Micropolis (for copyright reasons). For those of you that may have enjoyed it in your younger years like I did. Embarassingly, I think I still have Sim City 2000 for Windows 98 on CD laying around in my apartment lol.

Neverball is awesome and it comes with neverputt. I like such a simple game with addictive gameplay.

My plan was to max my LB title this weekend.
But I didn't even launch Guild Wars...getting addicted to Toribash lol. It's bloody hard at the beginning not to look like a spastic, but with some practice it becomes really enjoyable.

Cave Story is pretty much the greatest sidescroller ever.

Add that one IMO. The most frustrating and fun version of Mario

Only 4 levels, but those 4 will keep you busy long enough.

Don't know if this counts or not, but a long time ago, Rockstar made the original GTA, GTA2 and Wild Metal free to download and play.

Going to try Wesnoth at some point in the near future, I'll tell you how it goes. Thanks for the recommendation, sounds interesting and fun for putting off constructive work.

The total conversion mod of quake, like urban terror or something. It's a fcuking terrible game, but it's fun to play.

Since when has Sam & Max: Abe Lincoln Must Die become free? Just last week I saw it at Target for $15.

If you follow the link I posted:

"This is the fourth episode of Sam & Max: Season One, and as of November 5 2007, it's absolutely FREE! Just click the green "Download the Free Demo" button to download the full game."
